I’ve blown the dust off the site and updated my portfolio with some recent work. Enjoy.
I’ve recently — OK, almost 5 months ago — accepted job at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis. I’m now the features design director here and oversee a staff of nine talented designers.
I’m slowly dusting the cobwebs off the site. Please excuse any information that is horribly out of date.
I was proud to be named designer of the year by the Arizona Press Club — and even more so when I learned that the design staff of the Cleveland Plain Dealer made the final decision.
“There was no question this group of work was the best of the category. The precision with which the designer utilized the publication’s storytelling tools showed a great understanding of classic visual concepts and helped bring a sense of urgency and emotion to a huge national story.”
I was also awarded first and second place in Deadline Page Design; and second place for Non-Deadline Design. My staff brought home several other awards including multi-page design and illustration.
It wasn’t lovingly crafted from scratch in HTML, but it gets the job done. Use the links above to review my design, art direction and illustration work.
